Marble is a
spy working for Archmaester Arvyn
in Oldtown. He is blind and with time has taken on
the habits and beliefs of the ancient followers of Boash, the Lorathi Blind
God.
He is a member of the Cabal of Light and Dark.
History[]
Born upon Southshield, one of the Shield Islands in the Reach, Cedrik fled his home with his mother after an Ironborn reaving claimed the life of his father. Looking to House Hightower for assistance, mother and son travelled to Oldtown, two amongst hundreds. After receiving little in the way of assistance, Cedrik's mother was forced to work as a whore to support what remained of her family.
After three years, Cedrik's mother died of a pox, leaving him alone in the world. Managing to find work as the assistant to a fish merchant, Cedrik scraped a living for the following decade.
Trouble and misfortune continued to follow Cedrik however, as his merchant employer was set upon by a group of drunken Lysene sailors, who smashed his stall. When Cedrik tried to stop them, they beat him to the verge of death. Although he survived the incident, Cedrik's vision steadily declined afterwards, plunging him into darkness not but four moons later.
With the passing of the years, Cedrik has grown to accept the reality of his existence, finding solace in the teachings of the Followers of Boash, the historical deity of Lorath. As such, he eats no flesh, drinks no wine and walks barefoot through the streets of Oldtown. Whilst he does believe in the idea that all life is sacred and equal, he too understands the necessity of survival, prompting his agreement to work as a spy for the Cabal.
